I think what the passengers did was horrible. There are lots of questions that the story doesn't address, but still the passengers' behavior was atrocious.

I feel the same way--I am in place to own again and am casually, very casually, looking. Like if a perfect horse dropped into my lap. The thing is, I believe there is always another horse for you (or me). So don't be downhearted.

Eventingnation.com is a good place to advertise sport horses. If I were looking for a sport horse for serious competition, I would look there and warmblood sales.com. All the other sites have too many ads.

I don't drive much (a 9 mile commute to work) so I don't listen to many audiobooks. My public library has a great selection--a few weeks ago I listened to about a third of "Heart of Darkness" but it was soooooo boring. My favorite has been Z, a fictionalized bio of Zelda Fitzgerald.

FB has a group started by one of our own called Dressage Horses Under $10,000 but if your friend's horse is rare it might not fit. Dressage Horses Weanlings to GP is very popular with the FB people also.
