Do I need a Kindle Paperwhite?

I don't read many e-books, and when I do, it's on my iPad or Kindle Fire. Both are heavy for reading though. I'm toying with a Paperwhite. Anyone have reviews, bad or good?

Re: Obligatory blanketing post

I live in northern Illinois, so cold/rain/snow is a given from November through April. I didn't blanket Bob til the last 2 years of his life. Miss A. gets a sheet at 40 degrees, and a blanket when it's 30-ish. This year she wore her sheet for a week, then into her medium blanket. Her pasture has no ...

RE: greys. Bob the Wonder Pony was grey and died at age 29 with exactly 2 melanomas, both the size of pencil erasers. It is a crap shoot regarding color, but I would never discount a grey just because of that. Plus it's my favorite color.

Re: In which I'm reminded how much horse shopping sucks!

I think you are making this more complicated than it is, and I don't mean that in a snarky way. In the US you'll pay for potential (and with PD's horses, it sounds guaranteed) and put time and money into training, or you can go to the UK, pay the same price, and get a horse that is already doing wha...

Based on your descriptions, I would rule out the last 2. Sickle hocks and wonky canter, no. Hard keeper with bad attitude? Definite no. I’d buy the one MC linked to sight unseen before I’d even look at those 2.

I live 20 minutes from the barn. That's nothing of a drive. If Miss A. needed her blanket changed or brought in or whatever, I drive out there. A drive like that is no excuse.

As far as "borrowing" hay/meds/whatever, "NO" is a complete sentence.

I would be madder than hell about the under-dosing. You put your guy there so treatment protocol would be followed and it wasn't. The clinic should give you a free week of additional treatment (if necessary per the eye vet). I would definitely let the eye vet know about the sub-optimal care at a cli...

My instructor is retiring and today was our last lesson. I was o.k. with it all (I’ll be taking lessons with another instructor who is cool) until the end of the lesson. We both broke down and cried. She has helped us so much and I am a much better rider because of her. I will miss her so much.

Stovetop. An abomination! I’m going to my brother in law’s sister’s. At best she is a mediocre cook so the food is secondary. I’m most excited to see my niece and my nephew, his wife, and daughter. I haven’t seen them in 2 years. I will spend Friday with them as well.
