Should I mind my own business?

Friend P. has alerted me that former barnmate S. asked P. how I like it at my barn. S. is looking for a new barn. S. is kind of crazy. Even though she is retired, she only came to the barn at 7pm when nobody else was out. She didn't like other people at the barn at the same time. She wanted the plac...

Nope, I didn’t buy a horse. I went to the local tack shop to replace my Ariat paddocks. Got the paddocks, and a new helmet since it is Helmet Awareness time. 20% off a 1K (or K1?). My International is about 5 years old, never hit the ground. But this is a pretty navy blue suede so it will be my wint...

Yesterday I incorporated all your suggestions, except lunging and in hand work. She's fine working in hand. It was hot and she was a bit tired so she wasn't as bad as she can be. I focused on a point on the wall and used a lot of ToH and planning ahead. Sometimes I'm a lazy rider and just want to wa...

Miserable in northern Illinois. Temps in the upper 80s, lower 90s and essentially in a drought. Full sun. It’s never cloudy. I get physically ill if I ride in these temps. Ariel colicked from the heat and now she has a sunburned nose. Icky little sore bumps all over her pretty white nose. She’s crab...

She wants to go left, I want to go right

There is a gap in Ariel's training. She is slightly herd bound, and wants to work towards the door leading to home. I don't always want that. Example. We are on the right rein with the door to our left and behind. She decides it's time to go to the door and sets her head and neck to the left. I resp...

Anyone use this? Does it work? Miss A gets hot under her saddle. A bit damp and warm. I use a standard quilted pad next to her, with a sheepskin half pad on top. Last few rides I put the sheepskin next to her skin and same thing. I was hoping the sheepskin would keep her cool but nope.

She was wormed in May with ivermectin and got another dose tonight. Tail and lady parts are clean. I put MTG on the spot. I learned that she does not like worming, and the trick is to wrap her head to the side, like giving her a big hug.

I went to the barn late afternoon. The horses were in, Miss A was munching hay in front of her fan. She was a little sweaty but that’s fine. The horses are coming in early when it’s this hot. My fears have been allayed. Another reason I love my barn. They really do care about the horses.
