Re: Two shoes lost in one shoeing cycle
I suppose, given our weird wet/dry cycles lately, the clinches could have loosened more than usual. It's also possible first shoe was a fluke, second was that the cycle was a bit too long as in she grew a bit more foot than normal or farrier didn't trim her as close as she normally is. It's hard to ...

Re: Two shoes lost in one shoeing cycle
I'd be PO'd. My farrier takes it personally if a shoe comes off, even when it's super muddy, and is back out within 48hrs, no charge. I wouldn't have even given the first guy 6 days...that's asking for bruising or abscesses. Give this Anthony guy a chance and move along if you need to...there's plen...

Re: Girth itch, hurray!
Do they make fuzzy girth covers for western cinches? I'd probably be inclined to try one to pad over the lesions. It's likely from sharing cinches or it's possible she had a reaction to the neoprene; I've known a few horses that would react to it, especially if the area got damp with sweat at all, w...

What about trying one of those horse "pacifiers" that mount in the corner of the stall? I think they have a wheel on them to keep them busy. I'm actually thinking to get one for my moose...he's very toddler-like and EVERYTHING has to go in his mouth. It's how he explores and I think it kee...

My mare LOVED having her udders cleaned daily. I kept a pack of baby wipes (Aldi has them cheap!) and just made a wipe-down a part of our daily grooming routine. Wipe between the nipples, on each side of the udder, and under the tail and underside of tail. If you do it regularly, it's quick and easy...

Definitely look into the Keramend, too. It's a beeswax base but you can mold it like playdoh to cover the resection area. Might be worth using in between White Lightening treatments for a 1-2 punch.

A client dealt with a milder case of white line that also included a resection. It's believed to have started because he was jabbing his toe on that side (front foot) due to how he was moving to compensate for a broken pelvis. That started a crack and it went downhill from there. One thing she used ...
