I am riding regularly and do not try to find excuses for skipping rides i.e. too hot, too cold, too humid, too sunny, too cloudy, too many bugs and so on and so forth. And I do not have indoor (Long Island, New York).

For someone who is fearing to ride outside or to do a trail ride I would suggest doing it gradually, taking baby steps. - go for a walk outside AFTER your regular riding session - walk should be relaxed, light contact maintained, in steady tempo - do the above for quite a while until you feel secure...

What if the buyer says "yes of course I do want to show the horse", he/she buys the horse and then does not show the horse. What is the seller going to do then?

(The reasons of not showing can be plenty, and not necessarily a planned lie)

ElaPe - your video link was very helpful lifting him up when he started to hang down / get heavy.


Generally I find Catherine Haddad's videos very helpful. I think she is very good at explaining things and also showing them in her riding in those videos.

The not so great trainers come to my barn such as a five-minute trainer or weirdoes such as the "whispering hooves" trainer. The better trainers do not come to my barn - they either want you to come down to them or give several lessons on a chosen day a month in a different barn.

I tried to find more yt videos re. training a too forward going horse. It turns out there are plenty of videos on how to work with a sluggish/lazy horse so he is more forward going then the other way around.

Yes, there were goals: work on bend in traverses. Accomplishing a goal that is horse bending correctly and easily in all three gaits is not possible during one single 30 min clinic. It is merely showing the way to achieve it.

That is in fact 90% of success that you do not fear his big canter departs or that he loves to go. (so many people around are just scared of their own horses and cripple them with either overusing gadgets or just simply with hand riding). Josette: I think you should continue your work like you do. Big canter depart means that he is really stepping under which is good. You shouldn't be fearing or be scared of that. The horse is not going to run off with you or anything.

I find that acceptable. Not so much in a one-time clinic type session. That would really annoy me. Clinics are expensive! That's why I am so disappointed. The ride was shortened by 15 minutes! IMO this trainer you describe gets away with her methods because the owners/riders allow it. I've seen it too. She wouldn't get any of my money and certainly not train my horse. That's true. What do you do if your clinic/ lesson is being cut short?

I went to a clinic, which wasn't cheap plus the horse transport and instead of 45 min I rode 30 min. I still paid the same. No explanation given or anything.
