Re: ANY help with conservatorship, Adult Protective Services

Thanks ladies! Not to ask a stupid question, but does POA mean Power of Attorney? She already has a trust and I am the person for everything. Her Durable Power of Attorney, her Advanced Health Care Directive, etc. I know that when it comes to finances she has to either decide to make me durable powe...

Re: ANY help with conservatorship, Adult Protective Services

Thanks so much for the suggestions Tanga. I will take any advice and info I can get! I wish there was more support or help in figuring out what to do as your parent ages. I guess it's like raising a child. There's no one book, and you're kinda tossed in the deep end!

Re: ANY help with conservatorship, Adult Protective Services

Hugs Tanga. You're in such a difficult situation. I currently help my mom go to all her appointments and keep track of all her meds and issues. We've een discussing what to do and when. Whether she'll come live near me, or at an assisted living facility. So I'm heading down that path. I can't imagin...

Re: Life Changes

Well done planning! I wish my own mother would be as good. She is the type to not want to deal with it until it's a problem. I asked her if she'd like to look at retirement places in the area, just to get an idea of what they have, and whether she'd like them. She said no. That she'll look at them w...

Re: Body Clippers-What brand?

I had the Listers when my Morgan mare was still living. She had cushings. They were amazing. I also would clip wet, right after a bath. It helped with all the hair getting everywhere. I just made sure to clean the blades and oil them well afterwards. I sold them to a friend who’s horse grew hair lik...

Re: Miss A.'s Christmas present/Black Friday

I always buy my sheepskin half pads from here: https://www.ultimatesheepskin.com/product/all-purposedressage-half-pad-with-pommel-roll-black/ They’re a pretty good price for the quality. Mine have lasted as long as my Mattes half pad....so far. I like that they also have an option for a full saddle ...

Re: What to do with sentimental horsey stuff?

I recently lost my mare...and I'm planning on mounting some nice bridle racks on a framed piece of wood, and then hanging both her bridle and halter on it. I was thinking of using fabric in the center of the frame...but now I'm thinking I might try and use one of her saddle pads in the middle instea...

Re: Just joined a CSA

What a timely post resurrection! I've been meaning to join the CSA that gives back to my son's school. I too hate kale. Blech!!! LOL I do use it in my smoothies though. :D We once were members of a CSA that gave us heads and heads of cabbage. I had no clue what to do with it. We would get two heads....

Omg! Baby is so adorable!

I also have to say that you've described me to a T with this:

Who knew I was a drafty type?!

Re: Ant infestation

I can't stand having ants in my house. It's the idea that if you see one...more will come. We had a bad infestation once in our old home. I could see the nests in the planters out front of our unit. I tried the ant traps...and I'd watch a few ants walk in and out...but nothing happened. Finally I co...

I'm in the same boat. I login and click on remember me...and it will periodically log me out. I'd say it happens quite often...enough that sometimes I'd rather just not login.

Re: Keurig or Keurig-style coffee makers: Do you like them?

I had one...loved it...great for iced teas too! However I decided that I couldn't tolerate the amount of waste it created. Plus...I bought an Aeropress, and I much prefer that. The coffee tastes a thousand times better. Although it could be because I switched to using Half and Half

Re: Oven disaster. My husband says "ask the horse ladies..."

I would try using baking soda and vinegar. I've found that baking soda will take pretty much anything off. Make sure to sprinkle on the baking soda and wet it a little bit....like a paste....and then let it sit for a while. Then when you're ready to scrub it, pour on some vinegar. You may have to re...

Re: To Ikea, or not to Ikea...Bookcase wall

I don't think you're too old for Ikea! If you're a little bit handy at all, look up Billy Bookcase Hacks. There are a ton of people who take Ikea stuff, and modify them so that they look nicer than just an Ikea piece of furniture. Now having said that...waaaaay back in the day I heard that shipping ...

Re: Free books online

I've also been using my library. If you don't pick a new and popular book, you won't have to wait ten years to check one out. At least...that was my problem when I first tried to checkout ebooks from my old library!
