Well DONE Kammie! So glad all are well, retained placentas are quite common in draft mares and can be very problematic. Fingers crossed no further troubles from that. Kammie looks amazing, beautiful condition, tip of the hat to you :)

Xan I'm so sorry :(. That day you took him side saddle in Golden Gate Park was the day you became one of my heroes. I shudder to think the mischief the General and Freeway are getting into, the far side of the bridge has undoubtably gotten a little more rowdy since the Orange horse arrived! (((Xan)))

Thanks! I broke my back badly about 10 years ago and it gets unpleasantly stiff if I sleep for more than 3 hours. Maybe it is what it is, other than not sleeping through the night I can't complain too much but it's time for a new mattress anyway. I think the purple weighs about 150 lbs, our conventi...

You're getting good advice on this, totally agree with what Chisamba said. Baby steps baby steps. It is fixable, it just takes time and loads of patience. Practice backing lots of other places. Can you back him in and out of his stall? that can help simulate the close quarters backing out of a trail...

Some plants as they mature get a coating that protects them from herbicides, star thistle is one, if it's mature you have to wound it first. Smaller fresh growth is easier to kill. Cut it let it grow a few leaves then spray.

I like stall mats over packed and leveled gravel. I don't care for the interlocking mats because in the one stall I have them in they fit soooo tightly that urine can't seep through the lines and I wind up using more shavings in that stall, or did until I drilled holes in the mats ;)
