Re: Insights from Jeremy Steinberg Clinic

Ignoring the feel is an idea that confused me at first reading, but after a couple of examples were given, I think I get it. Many people have horses that are not really connected, maybe BTV or just a little sucked back, but they think it's good because the horse is light. Then when they get a real c...

Re: Jigging

Most people, when their horse is "just" walking, are just sitting and not offering the horse any input. It helps to continue to ride. ;) I do that by using my legs very lightly in the rhythm of the walk, dictating the tempo and stride length that I want. Usually it is no more than followin...

I would not consider two fingers nearly enough. Just dropping your heel a little deeper could get you in range to get pinched between the flap and boot top, and you could never drop the stirrups even a hole. Though maybe she meant without stirrups when the leg is hanging? I'd still want more. Looks ...

Changing the flap length doesn't change the balance of the saddle at all, so wouldn't put you "out of whack". As long as the tops of your boots aren't catching on the flap it is a question of aesthetics. Have someone snap a picture of you so you can see if it looks ok. I would bet it is fi...

It's so hard to determine from a picture, but here are my thoughts: It doesn't need to come up much in front, seems doable, but I'd need to look at the shape of the panel and of the horse without the saddle. If the panel is narrow there may not be enough panel depth to work with, or if the horse has...
