Re: I Sold My Dressage Saddle Today....

I totally understand. I will be in a similar boat soon. My dressage saddle belonged to my heart horse that i had to sell. i still refer to it as her saddle. But it wont go near the new horse so if i mange to get him going undersaddle i will have to sell it to fund a new one. And given his build and ...

Re: Don't call it fall: September/October Autumn Goals

I can join as i have a new addition to work with :) A while ago i wrote about a cute buckskin qhxtb that i was given by a friend. Unfortunately as he progressed under saddle i felt something wasn't right so we headed to the vet. End result is that as a 6yo he is now a pretty paddock ornament due to ...

Re: Miracle cure suggestions

Thanks for the replies. Sorry for the brief replies. On my phone and the layout is not easy. 99%sure its the hock. Left canter is near non existent and struggles to bend left too but is left foot dominant. Could be NPA as vet felt xrays of hind feet not necessary (did fronts). But i dont think likel...

Miracle cure suggestions

I think I'm just hoping for a miracle but figure doesn't hurt to ask just in case. I've had for a year now a super cute 6yo qh x tb gelding. We've developed quite a bond and while I've only got him green broke (my time limits) he's a real trier and has a great brain. From when i got him i suspected ...

Re: Is this person high? In re horse growth

I think some breeds are more inclined to go up late as well as out. A perch x tb i bred was 15.3hh at 13mths. 16.1 at 2yr...both measured. He topped out at 17.2 apparently. And new owner said he grew that last inch in his 6th yr. A friends angle was very weedy and narrow and 15.3h measured at 4. By ...

Garr lost my post. Thanks Silk you explained it better than i could. Tsavo no, not limited to problem horses, tho i have no doubt its skewed that way given the nature of the work. Lots of ages, sexes and breeds. Her work is also catching the eye of insurance companies so i expect more research will ...

Bit late but after attending a recent seminar id also xray c6 c7. Still contraversal but a sharon may davis autopsys horse and studys anatomy etc. Shes finding 30-40% of the horses autopsied have deformities here which lead to issues under saddle. She has numerous papers published and others are sta...

Re: My current obsession (what's yours?)

Id settle for being able to ride too. I am just really struggling to get daylight time with work, commuting, toddler, property fixing etc (and green pony is not ready for night riding). So if im honest my real current obsession is painting furniture lol. As i can do that at night after bubs has gone...

Re: How to deal with "The Borrowers" ~ sigh . . . .

Ive had this happen numerous times too. One whip in particular i had for 20yrs... Just one of those perfectly balanced whips (which i recently lost on a beach run :-( ). I (and several friends) all ended up getting lockable tack boxes. My friends went flash and purpose prebuilt ones. Myself i just g...

Re: Canter balance

Thanks Musical Comedy. I was curious as my experience with similar symptoms have all led to sacro (and the odd hock) issue vs stifle. Thanks StraightForward - yep he's a cutie and yep definitely downhill though he does move like the picture majority of the time. No its not his normal stance in front...

Re: Canter balance

Thanks for the replies. I have had him looked over by several therapy specialists and a vet friend did a basic check for me. There are a few "red flags" for possible sacro issues (what makes you think stifle please musical comedy?) but nothing obvious and no pain responses except the unbal...

Canter balance

Can consistently counter cantering both leads be a sign of sacro issues? Or something else besides balance/strength? Mid last year i was given by a great friend a very cute little buckskin 6yo tb x qh. He's very very green (ie I've started him myself and we've had only 5 or 6 rides) but mostly a rea...

Thanks Well drugs at least are making her feel too good My normally very laid back lazy girl broke out of her electric yard last night and galloped around the house yard :( I was up feeding the baby so put her back in a small paddock with a mate for the night. Stifle and or Sacral injuries q's (sorry long)

On sunday early evening my mare was playing silly buggers in her paddock in some wildish weather and managed to hurt her left hind. She appeared initially just stiff at walk and trot (tracking short behind with both legs) on the lunge and then went onto 3 legs when cantering left (right was fairly n...
