Great Ride/ Improved Canter

I had a really great ride on Phoenix last night. I hadn't been feeling great earlier this week, so she ended up getting 4 days off in a row which I wasn't too thrilled about after all the great progress we made last week and I was really afraid we'd take a couple steps backwards. Even so, last night...

Pictures are easy, I can get some tomorrow. I'll have to do some reading on how to do the tracings, that's new to me too. I wasn't familiar with the CAIR panels, and after some reading agree I don't want to go that route. It would actually be really great to spend less than what I was planning, I ju...

Re: Frustrated ! No Walk

I'm gong to second Chisamba's one rein stop. Non-traditional yes, but it's saved me many times. I've found when practiced enough, it can also be a calm-down tool for an anxious horse. When I was starting horses a few years ago (mostly trail riding horses) my focus was safety. This was probably the m...

I've been working with a container/potted garden this summer. In retrospect I probably shouldn't have even tried, as I haven't been able to do much with what I've gotten because of my schedule. A side note- I do have someone at the barn who used to saddle fit for Trilogy, so a saddle fitter is close at hand if needed as she develops and changes. I'd just prefer not to buy a saddle and then a year later need a different one.

I'm going to have to start looking at purchasing a saddle for Phoenix sometime in the next 6-8 months. I'm not currently able to go out and buy one, but will be starting pooling money for the purchase now. Until now I've used the saddles the barn owns where I board her, but there's a lot of big chan...

Good job sticking the aerobatics! Youngsters are so weird. What was the tractor going to do to her?! But, then, I avoided my trainer's indoor — random windows, mirrors, etc — for fear of a similar ride! I had my second ride on Phoenix since bringing her back last week. That's only being lunged 4 times, and ridden one of those at a walk (with 1-2 laps of trot) on Sunday. She's got a lot of "go" so this time I went ahead and let her trot and canter. She's really goofy, as many 4 yo are, and...

What dosage of salt are you using? The salt should be just over 1/2 tsp per gallon... or 1tbsp per 5 gallons.
I'm racking my brain trying to remember which meds are ok. I think at this point they may not help, but I don't think it would hurt either.

You have to be pretty careful what you treat betta's with. Since they're labrynth breathers there are treatments that can affect their ability to breathe. My suggestion for fin rot would be the aquarium salt (or mortons ice cream salt, works the same and costs way less), frequent water changes, and ...
