It is often recommended to fertilize plants in containers because the water as it runs through the contain tends to wash the micronutrients out with it.

FWIW, check into Uber or Lyft.

Don't know if the cost would be discounted but often venues have a concentrated drop-off/pickup point and might be easier than having to beg/borrow/steal a vehicle and less than a taxi...

Can you find someone else in Asheville to ride-share?

If you want to play a bit more, try planting sedums. I had really good success with mine on a north facing front yard at about 6000' :)

Not super close but on the correct side of town is the La Brea Tar Pits and the Page Museum (with artifacts removed from the tar pits). Really pretty cool if that type of thing appears to you and DH :)

I also use a direct internet connection (in my case, LAN+cable from desktop) for my bank interactions (unless I use the ATM at the grocery store which is right next to the small bank outlet). I don't have any bank info on my phone at all. Just can't bring myself to do that. I also have no landline.
