You could simply move to the Medford OR area for the winter - the "banana belt". Get a little snow occasionally, but very little. Close, relatively inexpensive regarding travel and living expenses.

Yes, that's another attack if the foliage is smaller than something you'd use a chain saw on. Let the product work for a couple weeks until the foliage is dead and dry. Treat the trunks as soon as they're cut - two person operation. Wear gloves, goggles and masks and mix the stuff four times as hot as recommended. BTW, if you're buying it "premixed" stop wasting your money.

Congratulations! What things did you do to the soil to improve yield? I'm a little concerned, you keep mentioning how humid it is. Are you sure you got your hay dry enough before it was baled?

Yes, you want Ag lime with no "fertilizers" in it. Just pelleted lime. Again, wait until after a good rain. You'll see the pellets for days or weeks, depending on your rainfall.

And don't feel locked into wherever you decide to place items until you've lived with the arrangement a year or so. Once you DO start developing a routine, you may find a different arrangement works better. Enjoy!

Did you do a search in the "Facilities..." forum? We discussed this at length one time...it may have been the UDBB now I think of it... Pelleted lime is fine, and much less hassle and easier on your equipment. Like the powdered lime, once you get a rain, you can put the horses back on the ...

Over the years I have walked countless hours to help save countless horses with obstructions. And then lost one to torque in a matter of a few hours. I hate colic. You did all that could possibly be done without a surgical unit onsite. Sleep well.
