Re: Would you be ok with this?

Please don't continue to pay someone to treat you badly. Your farrier should not dismiss your concerns or act like you, his paying customer, are a nuisance for asking questions. If he disagrees with what you're asking for, he should be able to explain why he does, and how his method will achieve XYZ...

Re: Adelinde is such a bull shit artist.

^ that's exactly the problem. Prestige and medals and money are more important than the welfare of an animal who did not sign up for this gig. We- equestrians as a whole- need to wake the heck up and start putting the well-being of the horses we claim to love so much FIRST. Period. Otherwise our wor...

Re: rolled bridles

I think rolled bridles are beautiful on small/dainty faces. Cartier's is bolder so the bridle almost gets "lost" on him to me.

Re: Experience with Duette saddles

I had a duett dressage saddle years ago. My impression was... junk. The construction and leather quality were very poor. It was wide as claimed, but the panels were so flat that it was nearly impossible to fit properly to a horse. It proved to be more or less unsellable because it didn't fit right o...

I still read here sometimes, but mostly gave up posting. Unless you're part of the "in crowd", I find "outsider" posts are largely ignored. Coth will at least engage with lesser known posters from time to time, so I post there.

I imagine the parents of other children at the game wouldn't want this dude eyeing up their little ones either.

Re: Mini horses as therapy animals

A service dog trainer once told me that mini horses are becoming a much better option for people with mobility issues because they can use the mini to stabilize themselves, assist with sitting down & standing up, that type of thing. Leaning weight on a service dog in that manner is apparently wa...

Re: I've changed my mind about something important.

Understandable chisamba. No one needs or wants to witness something like that. Poor horse :( Over the years I've had strong viewpoints on this topic and have been humbled in the face of each of them. What seems like "too soon" or "too late" when you're on the outside of the situa...

Re: Okay Internet Jockeys - Mount up: Nip Tuck video for Discussion

CH is still kind of sainted in my mind as a coach/trainer, not just because he builds horses from scratch but also because he handed the reins of his best horse to his student. Who else in dressage has that kind of humility and generosity? Such a win in my books.

Re: Therapy Turkey on a Delta flight

What about regards to other passengers? Turkey poo isn't exactly odorless. My parents have gotten fleas from "therapy dogs" who sat in the same row they did. Totally not trained yappy dogs. I could understand a trained dog being a therapy dog.. but what's popping up on airplanes now aren'...

Re: Therapy Turkey on a Delta flight

No idea about this particular turkey, but I don't think its that far fetched to have a bird as an emotional support animal. They are intelligent and very capable of bonding strongly with a human companion. Not just "dinner". Many folks prefer feathered pets to the more traditional pets lik...

Re: Need suggestions for old mare

It really SUCKS to do it, but cutting the tail up to hock level has really helped my girl with the same issue. Much easier to get a short tail out of the way, and her legs are staying cleaner because she's not swishy a poopy tail around anymore. I just did it a month ago, so I'm not really sure how ...

Re: Besides WB - what do you ride

My first horse was a once in a lifetime QH and there's still nothing that quite grabs my eye like a good old fashioned Quarter Horse. Although I won't kick a minimally coloured Appy or Paint out of the barn either (not a big fan of splashy colours myself). Something about the temperament and the ove...

Loved following your story with Mama (and many others!) and totally agree with your last post. I hope you can get Esperenza turned around smoothly.
