We have had interesting weather this year: above-average snowfall in the mountains, lots of rain this spring (at one point we were 2x average for the year), then nothing. We had a lightning storm like Susan's on August 1, with mostly cloud-to-cloud strikes and scary loud thunder for about 30 minutes...

I have a hard time being enthusiastic about salad when it is snowing outside. So, I think I'll make a soup for dinner tonight. Maybe minestrone, as I could use the leek that's been wasting away in the frig. And add the last of the turkey meat.

blob, is your experience with Trumbull Mountain recent? I think their customer service may have deteriorated for at least a while after the store was sold several years ago. I remember reading complaints (maybe on another BB) about people having trouble with them, not getting paid after their saddle...

So nice to hear of a mustang success story!

JB (Jail Bird) Andrew was another dressage mustang; he competed up through I-II. I saw him at the National Western Stock Show when I first started dabbling in dressage. He was an impressive horse!

I had mortality and MM insurance on my warmblood the first few years I owned him; I was a bit freaked out at what I had paid to purchase him. DH eventually convinced me to be self-insured. Never needed to file a claim.

Colorado seems to be doing a reasonable job on the vaccination front, given the limited amount that has been available. DH received his second shot today and was pleased both times with the organization at the county health site -in and out in 20 minutes, including the 15-minute post-injection wait....

I made a NY Times recipe for a salad with roasted cauliflower, browned cubes of Halloumi cheese, and avocado on a bed of arugula (I used spinach since that is what I had). It was very tasty!

I wonder how much she is blinded by having bred this horse herself. It sounds like she had such high hopes for him as a performance horse. It can be so hard to let go of those dreams, plus perhaps the guilt of being responsible for his being on this earth, ugghh. But I agree, I would put him to sleep.
