Re: To shavings/wrap or not to shavings/wrap - Trailering debates

Always shavings (use the large flake, there is no dust). I want my horses to pee in the trailer and don't want them slipping around. I have never had any dust issues, so wondering if it is due to the type of shavings used. Always bell boots and normal white boots (like DSB boots) on all four. I suck...

I have already used the 4x4, at the barn where I board, and I have less than 500 miles on the truck lol.

We have to park in a grass area. Rain storm, slipping around, drop it in 4 w low and pulled right out.

Leg scurf - my chestnut horse is a bit of a hot house flower about his legs - I use the equifuse citrafoam. As long as he gets his legs shampooed a couple of times a week and hosed the other days, he's good to go. It can blow up fairly quickly if you don't stay on top of it.

I also noted how carefully he was mounted - that was a bit troubling for me. He did throw his neck up a bit when she very carefully sat on him. It was pretty subtle but I went "huh" to myself. That and the contact issues could mean he has back issues. Or that he is tricky to mount which is...

You need to take your trailer in to a dealer once a year for service. I have them crawl under my truck and check the hitch and entire mount under the truck every time I take it in.

Not to disagree, but grease is not grease. You want to get grease that meant for high temperature friction like you can get on a ball and hitch. I would not recommend bicycle grease. But this is easy - go to the local automotive supply store, tell the person behind the counter what you want and he/s...
