Re: Conformation plus temperament questions

I still like the temperment of a fjord for you, though they are extremely wide, not sure if you would find that comfortable? Have you been riding in the past few years? Is there somewhere that you can go and try a few horses to narrow down your search even more?

Yes, it's true. Many do have issues, some are worth their weight in gold though. I am also a mare person, so understand that bias.

Re: Conformation plus temperament questions

So the horse will be boarded out, you will be the only person riding, and you don't need the horse for lessons or breeding (just trying to keep up!). What about a good old QH gelding?

Have you not bought the Gypsy mare yet?

How well broke is the Fell? I would go for training and rideability over feathers, colour, offspring value etc..

I had read an article written by another mom who was visiting at the time, she wrote that her (own) husband climbed the fence to try and get to the child. Maybe that's who is being referred to?

These are beautiful. The only thing you might consider adding is a type of protective cover. The last barn I boarded at had off the shelf dry erase stall boards and they were often wiped clean by horse noses!

Re: The Gorilla Story

I saw the fence in question in a video clip of the story, it is akin to a low 3 rail fence but made of metal bars. VERY easy for a child to slip through or climb over. I'm very sad about the gorillas death, and wish that tranq'ing had been a viable option. I think that if the had intended to harm th...

I've got to ask...how did you end up here (or udbb) if dressage wasn't your thing? It is quiet here, but it was the same way at the old board for quite some time. Comparing this new one with the UDBB in it's heyday is like apples and oranges. There are SO MANY other options for social media now that...

There is a pond about the same size at a campground nearby, it is stocked and has a little beach area for swimming. There's an aerator in the middle and it seems to keep the water quite clean. It does not seem to deter water fowl, and there is a resident blue heron who is often along the banks.

I think that adding a defining line to the hoof, as well as embellishing the roots to make the mane more dramatic, and adding a forelock would help. It would be good to elongate the head a bit, but I don't know how hard that would be. The branches could also be extended, to finer lines, and more lea...

If the curb isn't used/needed then the rest of the bit resembles a double jointed baucher. Maybe give one of those a try too. But I am also a fan of less joints..I usually ride in a single jointed, but occasionally a mullen.

That sounds like an excellent plan for Deneb. I did the same with a hot OTT I had, we would go and 'visit' stables, shows etc without the pressure of performance. Eventually she was able to 'work' at a new venue under pressure, but it took a few years.

Hopefully your outing goes well!

I just use a watering can for horses who have a mild cough, doesn't have to be soaked but still helps to moisten/lessen dust. But Rhys's condition might be more chronic.
