Re: APF? Anyone using it?

Cheaper stuff is red cell or perktone-they do make the horses have a bit more energy and are cheaper. I just poured on feed.

Re: APF? Anyone using it?

I used it for about a year-didn't notice any real difference in horses.

Re: Amusements appropriate for dementia?

Such great ideas. My 85 year old Grandfather lives with me(he has been with me for over a year now) and Dementia is getting worse. I was thinking about ordering him some coloring books. He likes to cook, fill dishwasher, and do laundry-the only problem is that he breaks everything-as in the washer a...

Love the Chick asleep in their food!! I'll search some more for them, figured at this point that might be best to wait until spring. Your pictures are lovely!!

Re: Old dog GI issues

I was going to suggest pumpkin as well. I used to buy just canned pumpkin in the store and mix in with their food. They loved it, thought it was a treat.

Re: Chickens

I've been on the lookout for Easter Eggers, just haven't been able to get any in my area. I don't think I have the set up at the moment to do babies-maybe once it warms up. Thanks for the great info-they are very fun to be around. These hens are friendly but don't want to be touched, they will follo...

Chickens

So, recently buying a small farm, I of course needed CHICKENS! Used a old playhouse to make a coop, has a decent size run(20 feet by 20 feet). Through Facebook, I found four lovely hens-golden comets. They seem like hardy, easy going, good beginner types(I had chickens at a barn, way back when). So,...

I would do it, sounds like she could use to be under saddle a little more then you can do.

Re: Winter Feeding of the Older Gelding

Love the free choice grass hay, but would add a flake of alfalfa AM and PM. Since you can't be there everyday, this is fairly easy for a barn to do.

Re: Weaning - what grain

Hayburner-I switched out because i'm buddies with the guy that runs our local southern states-I have always had some horses on TC senior-he convinced me to switch over-he said the mill is better, etc and the price is better. My horses seem to have done really well on it and even picky eaters tend to...

Re: ever seen rain rot that...

Sounds like hives or an irritation of some sort that hasn't broken the skin yet. I would probably call the vet, probably could be on meds for a couple days and be all better. But yeah-I understand your hands are tied.

Re: BOT wraps vs traditional standing wraps...

As Hoof'n stated, love BOT wraps but don't want to overdue it on a length of time. I know with normal bandages, the horse can wear them for 24 hours if need be, but with BOT-would try to limit it to half a day.

Re: Rain Rot

I really like the Kinetic brand shampoos and creams. I usually try to soften the scabs up with some sort of cream, before picking. Makes it a bit less painful for the horse.

I've been feeding Legends Growth to my weanling. She is at a good weight. Its sold by Southern States, never heard of it before this summer. I switched from Triple Crown to them and all the horses look great.

If he is comfortable without shoes, I would go that way. Obviously, he wants to be half-barefoot anyways.
