I am going through the same thing. My usually cheerful, forward pony is grouchy and defensive. I am working through body work, saddle fitting, checking for ulcers. Have to do one at a time so I know what works, it's a slow process.

When they were outside in my own barn, I was out there no matter what because it was just me. Now I board, and if I'm sick, I stay home. I get to missing my pony after more than a day or two, but the point of boarding (for me) is you don't have to be there every day.
