I'll have to take your word on the fact that the current barn is nice because it sounds like a freakshow. If you have a herding dog breed (or even mix) be aware of the genetic mutation, MDR-1, which makes certain medications like heartworm preventative or flea/tick medication neurotoxic. I bought my last horse from someone with dramatically opposing political views from me. She had political signs all over her property. Weirdo cancer treatment hack: clam chowder is a superb source of potassium (clams, potatoes, and milk are all excellent sources). Also an excellent source of calcium, which also can go wonky during chemo.
Good luck with the home stretch.

I love SmartWool. Sell them and own them too. But it doesn't block the wind. For indoor riding, it's nice because you don't overheat, but it's not my first choice for my riding baselayers. I wouldn't necessarily return the Under Armour if it's the Heat Series stuff. It's good. Wool is a great materi...

Paula, On the bottom, may I suggest either Irideon WindPro or Kerrits WindPro breeches? They might make you think differently about winter riding pants. Cozy brushed feel on the inside, very stretchy and not constricting, but blocks the wind. On the top, something like this is ideal. http://www.ems....

Will she eat Tums? You can give her a handful before a ride and see if that helps. It's safe to try and if she does have acid in her tummy or ulcers, it can help. If it helps a lot, you can talk to your vet about ulcer treatments. Some horses need a little bit of hay in the a.m. before their grain t...
