Posture Fail

Since I stopped riding dressage, about 8 months ago, I have recently started lessons in Western. My posture has left town. I used to sit tall and correct, now my very patient instructor has to keep reminding me not to roll my shoulders in, etc. I feel like a slouch. Is this because I'm riding in a W...

Suspensory Injury

Has anyone dealt with a suspensory injury involving the branches on a rear fetlock?
If so, what was your method of treatment and how long was your horse laid-up?

I'm hoping to be getting the right saddle soon.
Photo of pony from side so you all can see why she is hard to fit.
She is a 20 yo Saddlebred/TWH/Hanoverian.

Re: Saddle Fitters-Need Input

Thanks for the reply
My mare is so darn hard to fit for a saddle. I plan on having a fitter come out and help us find something that works, but that's a few weeks away.

Has anyone heard of dressage saddles with the Bartos moniker made in Germany? I have Google'd myself to oblivion looking for anything about them. Fly by night company perhaps?

Re: USDF GMOs-Revisited

Rehashing this topic. It was a horrible year for all. Shows cancelled, etc and of course a lot of GMOs suffered. I have tried to support the one I was a member of over a time of 13 years. This year they had less than 40 members. I have volunteered in the past for them and did offer to volunteer for ...

Best Bit ?

I need some advice. Mare has narrow jaw and normal palate but thick lips. Currently trying a 135mm Baucher with a bean. She likes it but it is about 1/4" too big. A 5" is too small and 5.5" is way too big. I'm also concerned with her narrow mouth that a 3 piece mouth is not going to w...

Treat Suggestions?

In other words what treat would you suggest as a reward during training, such as when mounting, when your horse hates sugar cubes and even peppermints.
I try cutting up carrots, which she loves, into small pieces but I was wondering if there were any other alternatives.

Re: Riding After a Hysterectomy

I had my surgery on 11/9. It was a lap (DaVinci) and was a complete hyst. I figure I should be released to ride by March, hopefully, if all heals according to plan. I was curious as to if anyone was very uncomfortable for the first few rides.

I know this horse is her "go to" horse when others needs something to ride. But she even admits she has too many and needs help with costs. I think she is too attached to let this particular horse go as she has tried to steer me toward a couple others but I am not interested in them becaus...

Do They Want to Lease or Not?

I inquired about leasing a horse from an acquaintance 3 months ago. The horse is a good fit for me. The owner said yes and that she would work on creating a contract. She also state if it works out for me then we can talk about a possible purchase. She gave me a date we could start the lease but she...
