Kentucky Equine Research (KER) products (EO3)

Has anyone used the KER EO-3 product, which is supposed to be a very bioavailable form of Omega-3? Or any of their specialized feed pellets? I have found some brands/products are definitely worth the extra cost, and sometimes it makes very little difference. I have no experience with this brand, and...

Re: Best IR supplement?

Thanks for the comparison chart. I'll take a look at that.

The vet recommended this: https://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.htm ... b53e12dce0 but it's very expensive. It does have research behind it but I don't think I can afford that very long.

Best IR supplement?

So my horse seems to have developed insulin resistance. It's not just a weight thing - even at a perfect 5 body condition, he still has fat pads, some crest, etc. I board, and we go through batches of hay very quickly, so testing doesn't really help. In the past I've tested and some of the greenest ...

Re: The Big Black Freight Train

I have a draft cross like this. I've found managing his muscles to stay relaxed keeps everything else better., including his trot and stifle catching. I use his back on track saddle pad to drape over his haunches while in cross ties and it helps his whole back end including stifles. finally got the ...

Impact Gel Endurance saddle pad

When I borrowed a friend's western saddle, I used her Impact gel pad. They get great reviews for endurance and western riders. I know she had one mostly because her trainer suggested it and couldn't compare to anything else (she's always had one). I'm wondering if they really do help. They are very ...

PDS Showtime saddle?

Has anyone ridden in this? I can find very few reviews. It says it's good for short backed (with the Corto panels), wide shouldered horses. It has changeable gullets, which can be good or bad... They appear to be made by Pessoa. I had tried a friend's Pessoa jumping saddle, and he went well for a wh...

PSA Greenguard Grazing Muzzle on sale at TOTD 'TOO"

The Greenguard Grazing Muzzle is on sale at Tack of the Day for $70. Expensive but really light and open compared to the Best Friends type, especially for hot humid weather. Takes some experimenting to get it adjusted properly for the horse (low enough to eat properly, not so low they can push their...

Thanks everyone! Will definitely look more closely at them. I wish there were more used ones available but that's probably a good sign of fitting well.

Re: Elderly dog starting to get cataracts

A friend uses drops on his young dog to postpone the surgery but I'm not sure what they are. I think they're mostly anti-inflammatory and pain control. Not sure if that helps but hopefully your vet will have some good answers for you.

Back on Track socks

I am looking at getting some of the socks, not for warmth but for comfort. I don't have specific pain but my feet do get tired.... I've just read on the winter glove thread that their gloves are not as helpful as might be expected. Wondering if anyone has experience with the socks. Actually I'm wond...

Re: Your favorite hand lotion/cream/salve

I really like Palmer's Olive Butter. It's by the same people that make the cocoa butter lotion, but this one comes in a green smallish tube and uses shea butter and olive oil. Very light fragrance, but very dense and healing.

USAA Insurance

Was doing some googling, and USAA Insurance came up as highly recommended. I've not heard of them, therefore wondering if maybe the internet recommendation is skewed somehow. Given it's the internet and all. Wondering if anyone has any real life experience, or heard from anyone who does...?

Frank Baines Balance International Saddles

I've been reading about these - has anyone tried one? Are they truly better than a regular saddle for a wide horse? There is a model that comes with essentially no points. Has anyone tried one of these? This would be for a wide backed, big shouldered horse with a decent wither and short-ish back. Th...

Quarter sheets (and static electricity)

Does anyone have trouble with static electricity (static shocks) and quarter sheets? I would like to try one in winter, but the air gets so dry, and my horse is VERY sensitive to the little electrostatic shocks that pop up during the cold dry weather when synthetics are involved (usually me in a nyl...

Re: New refrigerator - Stainless or White?

Looking at Koolkat's photo, I probably should have gone with white, but they had the stainless in stock and the white would have required some wait, so I went stainless. Hopefully it will look ok, it's bigger than my old one and I'm a bit concerned it will dominate the kitchen, but we'll see. At lea...

New refrigerator - Stainless or White?

Existing apartment - replacing refrigerator, and the one that will fit is either stainless or white. The cabinets are honey pine type wood (think typical apartment type construction). The existing stove is bisque with a black glass oven front. The counters are light cream/beige with cabinets above a...

Tank de-icers - stray voltage

Posting here because I need some ideas quickly because horses aren't drinking :( and the facilities forum doesn't get quite as much traffic. New sinking type tank heater/de-icer. Aluminum disk sits on bottom. Connected with a heavy duty extension cord to GFI outlet, end connection to de-icer cord is...
