Re: Riding goals for The long night and Freezing moon months

I joined the Equisarte Winter Warm Up Challenge, after having done the No Stirrup November Challenge which did a world of good for my seat. Goal: to do 25 rides, not just work sessions, and some of them being without stirrups. Goal: Canter departs solidified on Kaylee. Goal: Getting Sierra legged up...

Re: Not ready to write, but a few musings

Thank you for posting that! I was able to audit a de Kunffy clinic a few months ago and felt the same thing. I am in the process of re-reading all his books. Good dressage IS hard work but it makes the horse more beautiful every single day.

Re: Random tack/apparel brag

Somebody got disgustingly organized  . Well done! It looks great. I wonder what I can make my tack room look like after I spend the Dover Gift Certificate from Santa.

Re: Breed help - small drafty type

I have a smallish Shire (yes, the mares are smaller) 16hh - barely. PLENTY enough height/width for me. She takes a medium saddle! She's perfect. Calm and cool. We DO have to work on "GO". And yes, I roach her mane and trim at least the feather on the back legs.

Re: Besides WB - what do you ride

Love, love, love mules! Our Rhoda mule has been gone a number of years and still miss her! 13hh hands of chestnut mare pissyness - but only to me and not the husband. She adored him :). But if I got on her she'd be likely to take off at a dead run and then do the pony trick of dropping the inside sh...

Re: Creaky. What to do?

Two Naproxen in the evening if I remember and I do very well. Love the soaks in the tub too. I still take Ibuprofen for headaches and immediate pain relief - 3 at a time on doctor's advice! I have a cast iron stomach, I will admit. My job involves lots of distance driving (fiber art shows, not a tru...

SHIRE Cross mare. VERY nice gaits, good size for me (16hh), very pretty when she's clean (a white gray :)), and a very pleasant change from the OMG the shadow in the corner is going to kill me Trakehner gelding!
