I read somewhere (sorry too long ago) that some BNT used to put something (jelly maybe? NOT red) on the bit when a horse was fussy. She wrote that it wasn't 100% but worked with some.

Several years ago I had a problem with my old style Hanoverian being heavy on the bit. However, he went beautifully in a double bridle and later a Bouchet when I didn't want to deal with all the reins. He respected them.

CONGRADULATIONS! How exciting! We definitely need pictures and background information. I love the experience of getting to know a new horse. (Just not the tedium of the increased daily maimtanance work of caring for multiple horses...but two wouldn't be so bad.)

Thank you KathyP. Although you never forget them time does help. I have lost others over the years and it always hurts. The stress of dealing with your other horses's health issues doesn't help while you are dealing with grief either. Good luck with a successful rehab.

A different kind of loss and grief, in some ways harder since it doesn't have a quick end. Do, however, consider following your Vet's recommendations for keeping him in light work. Most horses do better when kept active when they are arthritic.

I have both crank and non crank. Like the others I love the padding and just don't buckle snug. However, non crank are easier to fasten since they don't double back at the buckle. I also just take off the flash.

Tsavo you might want to try Pentosan if Adequan is ineffective. Colorado State has done some research and it is used a lot in Australia. Check the Internet and with your vet.
