Re: Miss A and the cherry picker
Our indoor is huge, 70 x 300. The far end is the jumping area, the front is for flat. There are hay bales along the back wall, AND a small stack of horse eating pallets. Yesterday we rode in the flatting area but Miss A could not be convinced that those pallets weren’t going to attack her. It didn’t...

Miss A and the cherry picker
The barn is replacing all the lights. This is an enormous project as you may imagine. The indoor has been closed a day here and there which is fine. I had plans to ride today but the cherry picker was RIGHT NEXT to the doors to the indoor. Beeping, moving, backing up. Guys climbing up and down. She ...

The dusty horse
Miss A is dusty. I curry and bring up dirt. I body brush and dirt goes away, but she is still dusty. I then use a soft brush but I’d have to brush forever to get the dust off. What am I doing wrong? It’s far too cold for a bath.

No turkey for us. We dined on beef tenderloin, mashed potatoes, the green bean casserole, and home made by me pumpkin pie. I did not make the crust, but that’s o.k. Walk to canter
I am not a novice rider. Miss A. was a schoolie for years and tolerated absolute beginners. So why can I not get a walk to canter transition? W to C is much easier for me and her. My instructor can get the transition with no problem, although Miss A will pin her ears when asked but immediately prick...

I found out she suffers from dementia and that she has asked others the same question. Her daughter is a working student and doesn’t drive yet, so mom drives her. They live about 40 miles from the barn so mom stays while daughter does her thing. Now I feel bad.

Last night at the barn a big storm blew through. The power went out, a tree was toppled by the roots and was blocking the driveway. And there aren’t things much louder than sheets of rain on a metal roof. Everyone who wasn’t riding went into the club room to wait out the storm. The mother of one stu...
