Re: It's the thought that counts

hey, I got a jump pack for my car for christmas.... I think DH is very sweet to be concerned about my safety when I'm out in the nowhere ville at the barn. He's good at the fancy gifts too.

Prob going to start FC with my pony later this year. I've been quite happy with the quality of the trot work and lateral work. I have a plan to address the canter strength to setup for FC :)

Re: Tesla's stops and spin outs

Rye this is typical of some WBs. You put a leg on and they push back. They are ponies in big bodies. Are all this way? No but to see this resistance is not unusual in certain WBs. My friend’s mare would stop but also add in ears flat to the head. Nothing is wrong with her. Nothing is wrong with Rip...

Re: Tesla's stops and spin outs

I thought this might be interesting to some given the amount of discussion was generated in the goals thread re: Tesla's stall-outs. She seems to be mostly past her recent episode of stalling out, but we did have a couple stops yesterday captured on film. The problem right now is her haunches spinn...

Re: Tesla's stops and spin outs

Rye not for a WB. Tesla is pushing against the outside leg throwing her HQs out to do so. That is why I suggest counter bending to almost counter SI to put the outside hind back under. They push back against pressure. Why once you start with the lateral work and they learn to move away from pressur...

Re: Tesla's stops and spin outs

If this was my horse or you were my client I would get a serious look at the right stifle. She looks a little off to me. That is causing the hips swing- they swing out when the right hind is asked to push under.

Re: Tesla's stops and spin outs

SF I know exactly what you are dealing with. I agree that Tesla is objecting to the leg like chisamba says but I also know how difficult it is to deal with in the WBs. This is where I would go back and train the go. Don’t worry about where her head is just concentrate on on light leg aid to go if s...

Dog people: Beagle/Beagle cross midwest connections?

As you might remember, I lost my beloved dog in Feb. It's been very sad but I'm starting to think about my next dog. I know there are a lot of well connected dog people here so i wanted to throw this out: I am looking to network/connect with groups that can help me get my next dog sometime this year...

sorry a bit late- have had horses insured since 2005. the trick is finding the right agency that can underwrite several companies. I have changed companies 3x based on the changing needs. really pleased with my horse this week- the sitting trot has always been hard for some strange reason (I commented on it in the sitting trot thread) anyways, I am so thrilled that this is becoming a non-issue so I can use effective aids as I try 2nd/3rd stuff.

Re: Painful topic making that hard choice

My dog died 3 weeks ago, she was very happy then she wasn't- she was shutting down with in a day. It went quick and it wasn't really a choice. She wouldn't have survived the day. In her case it was cancer. I thought she wasn't doing well for about a week then it quickly progressed.
