I think in this situation it is a win-win. I was in a similar boat when I was pg and riding less, and a lovely rider at my barn had a horse on layup.

I do, and I use the bread machine on the dough setting to mix and proof the dough, then I punch and roll or stretch to desired shape/thickness.

There are countless other types of training aids that can be abused, and some of the most horrible (cruel) riding I have witnessed has been in plain snaffles or doubles.
