Re: New year, new goals! Jan/Feb 2020

Thank you Piedmont! M is doing really well... 6 clean changes yesterday!! I may have spoken too soon for myself. I’m in the middle of a major flare up. Am hoping it settles soon and I can keep rehabbing.

Flight, stay safe. What’s being portrayed in the media and social looks horrific.

New year, new goals! Jan/Feb 2020

I’m finally back! What are your 2 month goals in the new year? Mine are to get back my riding fitness. Currently I can ride 3 horses for about 30 minutes. But my shoulders are rounded again, and I really struggle in the canter because I don’t have a great anchor yet because my adductors are so weak....

Soundness for myself and Miro! In the next decade, I want to train him to GP. He’s back to schooling changes and large working piris and if he doesn’t manage to hurt himself again, he has all the makings of a horse of a lifetime for me. With that being said, Andrea and I are working on figuring out ...

Re: Inside Hand in Half Pass

How the rein gets used in HP really depends on what the horse is doing. That being said, I personally don't subscribe to an opening inside rein. The reason being this: In half pass, the horse has to drive from the outside hind leg - you don't want to "lead" the horse over with an inside re...

I will say, you can see just how small you have to make the canter on some horses. Interestingly, the horse did the R/L change a few times cleanly, but she stopped and re-struck cc. I'd be curious as to why. In my mind, she should have pushed the horse forward once the change happened cleanly, other...

My hardest skill to learn was being a connected rider and not breaking at the waist. It took me forever to learn to knit myself together and to engage my low abs. Linden, for what I was taught, and for the horses that I've felt (all obviously trained by the same person...) the piaffe is a more relaxed seat and back with the energy being tapped up by legs/heels when needed.
