Re: The good guy with a gun

Do you put your seatbelt on everyday when you get in the car? Does that make you paranoid that you are going to get into an accident? Do you wear a helmet when you ride? Are you paranoid you are going to fall off your horse? To some people, carrying a gun in case of needing to protect oneself, is n...

Those couple of examples are fine, but we need to look at the larger picture. What drove the Arab Spring? Lack of work, easily as much as any political dissatisfaction. Where do the terrorist groups find their recruits? From amongst the young people (men mostly) who see no futures for themselves in ...

Well, after one of the heavy yard-work days, I was staying over with my daughter, and was SO MISERABLY STIFF after watching Project Runway (just sitting on the couch) that I could hardly walk to the bathroom. She promptly dosed me with Advil. Went to bed, felt a whole lot better in the morning. So m...

Should I have been embarrassed?

Funny thing. I'm riding the bus, headed to BART, and I've got a couple bags of things with me. One bag has my travel mug in it and must have still had a little tea at the bottom, because when I get off the bus, I've got this wet spot on the thigh of my pants. High on the thigh, toward the inside, be...

DH wants to take the extra 6 inches from the adjacent dining area. There is technically lots of room because it flows right into the livingroom. But as it stands the dining table is nicely centred between a window and a built-in buffet. It bugs me to move it off-centre. Is that a silly concern? Not...

Working like freeking crazy

Just an update from me, just because we want new posts every so often. I'm working like crazy getting a house ready to rent. We've shoehorned in a kitchen remodel into the 30 days between renters, and anxiety levels are off the scale. Plus the departing renters didn't dress the yard after their dogs...

Didn't need a gun... http://www.pekintimes.com/article/20151015/NEWS/151019593 Yes, crazy people who want to do damage will still want to do damage when guns are far harder to get their hands on. Maybe they'll choose a knife instead. And that means others will have a better chance of wrestling them ...

For example: Drug lords and gang violence probabl...

Interesting question. I was kind of referring to soreness, not actual pain, but to answer the question, I guess I figure pain is the body's way of saying "Don't do that!" and if it's saying don't, maybe I shouldn't? I mean, one of the reasons we don't immediately cut all pain in an animal ...
