I have only used it as an injectible, and i thought it had long term effects, so I am no help wrt to the liquid, but it was invaluable . We used it for a horse that did not keep calm well and needed to. It worked well, gave us about three weeks of taking the edge off.

If i may offer a wee bit of advice, try not to kick so much. it might just have been my screen but it seemed like you kick every stride which horses can start just ignoring.

I found all my horses preferred thinner bits in the double, but they most of them had some arabian blood so were small petite mouthed. actually that is not true, Kea was an Irish draught and she also preferred a thinner lighter double

I ride in cotton too. I find anything else rubs worse. I do liberally use Calmoseptine. I discovered it at work. It was developed to protect skin of tube feeders. It works well on rubbed or sensitive areas.

anyway, i do not want to waste a lot of time, nor be overly negative in criticizing the seats of people who ride better than me, i just want to explain how i came to the opinion that independence of hand and leg,and balance of seat, can be more influential to a horse than perfect posture.

I don't think the rider's posture even needs to be all that good, as long as the less than ideal posture doesn't interfere with delivering aids that the horse can recognize. absoultely disagree. I have the myler you reference, and it does not "move all over the place" when i use it. it is light, comfortable and quite stable. the center link and curved bars offer tongue relief and it works well for a dry mouth fleshy lipped horse.

I am the opposite to most opinions expressed. My personal skill set is much better at encouraging contact on a light horse than lightening a heavy one.
However I would obviously, as I sure everyone would, address the balance to improve the contact. The mouth is symptomatic of the whole horse.

they are called button mats, they are about half inch thick and have button like bumps on them. they are a bit of a pain to clean but they are not at all slippery

It should be treated fairly quickly if significant.. Calcium helps eliminate potassium, is his diet calcium rich?

I rode through a broken ring finger by using a driving rein in that hand, ie rein over top of hand under thumb. I still at times have to ride that way due to arthritis. I buy the huge bottles at a bulk warehouse.
