oh no - the summers can be hot (some days it hits 90) but most of the time it's in the 80ies and we are always cooled by the ocean. We do get occasional nor'easters but they are pretty uncommon. Cost of living here is very high. Sales tax is 8.25% but taxes on my 4 bedroom colonial are 14k now. I do love the weather and proximity to the beach and NYC. Culturally speaking it's the best. Great schools too, and great doctors and hospitals. But I don't think I can afford to retire here.

Horses can do OK completely blind. At least, some of them can. If he had a companion horse or donkey with a bell, that does work as a seeing eye horse. I am sorry for him but if he has a good mind he might do OK.

The guys at my barn were also great with the horses and worked very hard. Everyone did tip them very well so I think they did OK in that regard.

I agree about the blood work, and also, unless the vet told you to give your horse a double dose, my vet told me several times that more is not better with this drug.

There is nothing wrong with using power floating as a tool, but it has to be done judiciously. My vet always did a combination of power and hand floating. Yes, I agree and I was not implying that the mare was bad. I just know about how an accident can make you never trust that particular horse again, but you are fine with other horses.
