Re: de face booked myself
There was a very interesting article on bbc radio 4 about news sites set up pre the usa election results pushing false news story's. I wasted so much time face booking I have gained far more from this forum and British dressage forum. Must go much to my astonishment the England squad are 2 nil to Sp...

de face booked myself
I used to like facebook, but gradually realised it has taken over my life, i looked at it first thing in the morning, last thing at night. Loved looking at pictures of horses, gradually started to hate hate hate the animal cruelty pictures, random arguments about nothing and the friends who would ta...

Re: Goals and progress, October and November
Interesting to read everyone's updates, some real highs and very sad lows. I decided start of this month to sort non cantering but does actually canter ponys canter out. I took a long look at myself and realised that the main issue was me, pony canters fine but on right rein irrespective of directio...

what is a senior rider?
I still feel 30 in my mind and heart but I'm a bit older than that (53 this month). I just wondered what a senior rider is, is the definition age. Experience, health or what?

Re: Clinic / lesson cut short
My instructor sometimes cuts lessons short, usually when pony is too tired to do more, or has done something so well that its the right moment to end on. That is fine by me and she always explains her decision. She occasionally over runs so 1 hr becomes 1 hour 15 for example if there is an issue tha...

Re: Tell me about your good horse/ experience
okay this is long so browny points if you get to the end! I have posted before about my pony, I bought her after my old boy Brychen was pts at 22 years old. I had considered long and hard as he got older about my next horse, we had enjoyed 4 seasons of endurance before I lost my nerve hacking out af...

Re: following on from if no one sold a horse what would you do?- update n pics
Isn't life funny, I posted the original post just the weekend before setting of for the level 1 gb trec national championship with pony. This was to be only my second trec competition as an individual, the competition is pairs or individual. Must choose to ride as a pair at level 1 and 2 . I had qua...

Re: following on from if no one sold a horse what would you do?
Thanks ladies, I just had to vent. As pony was a bit breathey last night we had a play in the menage. We did some nice canter work on a 20 meter circle doing 1/4 circle trot up to canter, back to trot. This from a pony that wouldn't canter in a straight line for more that a few strides last year. Pr...

My non cantering pony (she can in fact canter and very nicely but some might recognise her as that from my earlier threads on other parts of the board) is: lovely, she is a british native pony , a fell pony, rare breed status which is something I always wanted to own, is incredibly pretty, has a lov...

Re: Frustrated--seasonal allergies and treatment
Mine has hay fever starts may, worse june better by August /sept. I have used steroids in inhaler form as less risk of laminitis but she does tend to hit the nebuliser out of my hands, so I have given up on it! I have found global herbs pollen x helps a bit and keeping her in during the day on shavi...

Makes you wonder what happened to her with a previous foal. Well done for giving her a safe haven.

Dp you mean over bent? I'm really worried about the amount of contact, plus my apalling position. Am thinking of selling pony to either a nice breeder or a younger better rider.

None cantering pony competes - Input urgently sought
I have provided a clip from warming up at a competition yesterday , pony was beautifully behaved but oh my riding... anyway I would be grateful for comments as I want to discuss some of my thoughts with my instructor tomorrow and wonder if others see the same as I do. I will try and load clip of the...

Re: Can we get a jump on April/May training goals thread?
Learning to ride is my main one, I feel quite down about my position and general lack of ability. Im putting it to the test literally as going to a dressage completion on Sunday, only a walk trot test so we will see how it goes.

Return of the non cantering pony - cantering!
Two clips from yesterday, one with me on top and one with instructor as we had both come to the conclusion that I wasn't helping pony understand what we wanted. Pony uses her shoulders to drift through the rein and sets her neck, this is her worst evasion as she is too polite to buck bloody awful ol...

Re: Cross training: Trail riding?
I do competitive cross training, trec, orienteering on horse back, control of the paces (slowest canter, fastest walk over a 300 meter track) and obstacle course. Love it. I mainly compete with a pair who has a matching Fell pony.

Greenholme Shandy- Pony requests help with my remedial rider with video!
I know its unusual for a pony to post rather than a human but I really do need help with my remedial rider. Try as much as I might I cannot get her to understand the correct aids, her balance and posture needs work and I'm concerned that she seems to be 2/10ths lame. She has proven to be a very good...

Re: Besides WB - what do you ride
I ride a 13.3 hh Fell pony mare. I bought her to do a bit of everything with, and she has hoped admirably with that. I had given up on the idea of dressage but tried to intro competitions this year and much to my astonishment came second both times in reasonably sized classes against more traditiona...

Re: The Big Black Freight Train
I love him! kind of like a giant version of mine, I have attached a picture of her sire who is a typical Fell pony. I wonder if there is a connection way back from English Fell and Dales to Canadian horses?
