Re: In which I'm reminded how much horse shopping sucks!

I know, right! Imagine having a new horse to take care of, and it'd have to be in a stall due to the mud here ($$$) - I'd be freaking out. It was not a total shock: a lot of my horse buying dithering was due to a tiny voice in the back of my mind wondering if this might happen, and only the perfect ...

goals and how to achieve them and what even are they?

In my long whiny thread about my first world problem (...horse shopping sucks) I am looking for a 4-8 yr old to go Prelim eventing. No closer to that aim, because I have a budget, so buying a made Prelim horse in its prime is out, and another goal is creeping in. Go Prelim on a horse I trained mysel...

Re: In which I'm reminded how much horse shopping sucks!

So, Snork's wise words aside, I still do feel that if a horse has a marketable skill in jumping, it is generally shown jumping, and the ad mentions it. These people are eventers, so they're looking for that talent, and they don't appear to think she has it. Or they're just bad at marketing. Flying t...

LeMieux pads are thinner, and well made. Toklat too. They both take a lot of abuse but daily hot washes is a lot to ask! I haven’t found PRI pads as durable, nor Schockemohle. Eskadron are hit/miss, and I only have one EquiTheme and it’s very thick. I have a Seamsright pad to compare to as well!

Well I don't know about yearlings, but the 2-3 yr olds certainly go thru a chute all around Europe, and the useless ones get sold off. The rest go back in a field til age 4 usually, which is good. Which really is an annoyance about US sellers. They expect you to buy a pedigree and ride that. Because...

My guy has two full sibs.

Mine is a 2012 gelding, black, 17.1h
His 2013 sister is a 15.2 chestnut mare - she's for sale apparently! I bet she is amazing if she has the same temperament as my guy.
His bay 2014 brother was 15.2 at age 2, and projected to make 16.2-3.

Parents were 16.2 and 16.3.
