Re: What would you tell your 20 year old self if you could?

Your health is top priority - maintain healthy life habits and use sun screen. Get as much education as you can. Save money for future or emergency fund. Be kind to yourself and others. Respect yourself. Follow your gut about interactions with others. Get out if a situation if it feels wrong. Negati...

Re: RIP my sweet Ricky 2002-2015

I lost my dear Chippy cat in 2013. He and Ricky were best buddies and would groom each other and sleep together. This is who Ricky is looking at in the bottom photo. I think Ricky missed Chippy and seemed to slow fade the past 2 years. I hope they are together again grooming each other. http:/...

Re: Senior gals with senior horses

Thanks MC - my guy has turned into a real little ham. He loves attention and we have finally turned the corner with our trust and bonding issues. The picture does enlarge when you click on it but I could only figure out how to add a link versus embed the photo. He is a robust 14.2 hands and I'm 5'2&...

Thank you. I really miss him - especially when you have a daily routine together. Sweet Ricky was a long hair gray tiger with white bib and paws. I'm trying to figure out how to post some older pics from the Photo Bucket website with this Chromebook.

RIP my sweet Ricky 2002-2015

I had to let go of my dear sweet Ricky cat for advanced health issues. I rescued him as a small kitten left at dumpster behind a diner. He was near starving and quite ill but was nursed back to become a lovely house cat. He had the loudest purr and would sit right next to me watching TV. I would hav...

westisbest - thanks for posting that article. I really enjoyed it. Lovely stories of older horses still active in riding. demi - we've been watching TX get slammed with these heavy rains. NJ will get a mild heat wave this week as temperatures touch 70 again. I expect it will be the end of any more warm spells for this year. I gave my little goat (I mean pony) a minor shave on his chest and neck front. He starts to look...

Re: Senior gals with senior horses

I miss trail riding the most. I previously mentioned the local parks here are over run by bikers - even on the hard top walking a dog you have to take care not to get hit by a speeding road biker. They give you no warning racing up behind you to pass and the park rangers do nothing although several ...

I read a story about the Iditarod Dog Races in Alaska. Moose are extremely dangerous to dog sledders and will charge into the dog pack killing sled dogs.

Re: Senior gals with senior horses

Darn I lost my reply. MC - you are totally right about the harsh winters and the need for a heated indoor. A necessary requirement. It is frustrating the strings attached to take lessons in these barns when you are rehabbing an injured horse. The hay situation is maddening - sounds like poor managem...

Re: Senior gals with senior horses

I have to agree that running out of hay is unacceptable - especially for what you are paying. How critical is it to continue working with a trainer during this rehab period? Is it feasible to find a smaller barn at less cost for a stall, say a smaller indoor with safe turnout arrangement? Like even ...
