I can tell you that I do own a coat which is similar to the last link (the "Suzanne") and even at my fattest it was fairly flattering.

Re: How to find a GOOD lawyer?

So how about a teardown? Are there any falling down homes left there or in a neighboring town? Abandoned anything you could get creative with? That's exactly what I'm looking for. Not a teardown but something that needs a ton of work. In my town, even the really dismal houses are super expensive- t...

Re: Need winter coat for Switzerland

I do agree with others that J. Crew does have a slightly euro bent if you like any of the coats they offer. I also think Madewell does too. Both are in any US shopping mall. I don't know your style or I could maybe suggest something else. For super easy packing, the North Face Thermoball parka https...

Re: Need winter coat for Switzerland

If you are in Lausanne right now, you ought to be in bed! ;-) But I think the best bet is to buy something there. It will be 10x the quality and style of what you can get here, even if you buy it at a less expensive Swiss store (if there is such a thing). COS has some beautiful clothes, reasonably p...

Re: Need winter coat for Switzerland

Wait- *where* in Switzerland are you going to be based? Unless you're up some mountain, it's not all that cold there. The average daily low in Lausanne is 37°, which any Bostonian can tell you is t-shirt weather. Geneva is about the same temp. I wouldn't worry about the weather. I *would* ...

Re: How to find a GOOD lawyer?

Wicky came through! I had a very productive conversation with a very competent lawyer this afternoon. I feel better now. Thank you!! And the answer is yes, the town would pay for me to move my house to another lot. That being said, there are actually no lots in my town available. It is a very, very,...

Re: How to find a GOOD lawyer?

Wicky has reached out. Very kind of her. It's a fairly small area so not a ton of people interact with lawyers who specialize in it. Martindale did confirm that the big office downtown does have expertise in it. I'm frightened that I can't afford them. I am not litigating so there is no big payout. ...

Re: How to find a GOOD lawyer?

My ideal house would be something affordable so I could do another remodel and have it be what I want but I don't know if that's realistic since fixer-uppers and town houses in this neighborhood are now going for $1.2 million and up. There are downsides to having the smallest house in the neighborho...

Be careful vacuum packing down. Somethings you can completely suck the heck. And it's way fun. Feathers ... No. Reduce to half volume only. I should have added that I only used the compression bag that you roll to get the air out, not the vacuum one. I work in the outdoor industry, with premium dow...

I don't think we're talking about going 105 in a 35 zone here. At least in my case, I was going 40 in a 35 zone. I think if you're the cop, it makes a huge difference if you're a few miles above the speed limit due to distraction (e.g. not noticing the speed limit had lowered, as it does in the city...

What Paula said. Pack for a week & do laundry. Throw in one dressier separates outfit so you can mix and match, and you're good to go. Get a down jacket and pack it in one of those vacuum bags to take up less room- you'll need a winter coat. It helps if it's waterproof, too. Philadelphia isn't M...

It's just real buttermilk (and I have to say real because the stuff you buy in the Hood carton isn't ac...
