Re: Cold is coming! Recommendations for boots, coats?

The nice thing about waterproof is that it's also windproof. Maybe our area is the only one that has screaming cold wind sometimes but the truth is it's way warmer to have a waterproof/windproof layer on top of the insulation. I am really not looking forward to the freeze to come... As for gloves, t...

Liz Arbittier from New Bolton or Ashley Taylor from Sports Medicine Associates- extremely thorough. Peter Blauner comes very highly recommended- he was the primary vet for one of the horses I offered for so I couldn't use him but it was clear he was very good. Liz Arbittier used to work for him befo...

These: https://mountainhorseusa.com/footwear/snowy-river-lace-paddock-boot I loved the footbed comfort of my Mountain Horse boots. Re: Things you would pay extra for and the opposite

You live in a magical, wonderful dream place...  Haha, except for the long, cold, snowy, winters. But, that's probably the only reason that so much of New England is still rural, so we build indoors, learn how to dress for the cold, and do our best to power on through it. That, and...

Flynn is one horse. I think it's pretty excellent, but a statistical sample of one is pretty low odds. And I bet he looks wonderful doing it, too. Re: Things you would pay extra for and the opposite

There is no reported correlation between Lyme disease (or even Lyme-related arthritis) and ringbone in any of the medical literature. It is, however, very common in draft horses, even in non-Lyme areas. I know your horse was very sick. Since mine was, too, you have my entire sympathy. I get it. I'm ...

And to me the problems in the breed probably start before then, or at least in America. The breed has not been bred for longevity or soundness. Re: Things you would pay extra for and the opposite

It's interesting that Lyme is on so many "no" lists. I'm in an area heavy with Lyme and we just treat it and go about our business. Nearly every horse here has had it at some point. I guess if it went for a long time untreated there might be issues but I've never heard of any who have had ...
