Re: So what are you reading?
I am currently reading "Eagle in Exile" by Alan Smale. Fiction, but it is book 2 of a trilogy. It is set in AD 1218, and is about a Roman Praetor who is captured by North American Indians. Pretty good so far. :) Yes, I read all three. Really enjoyed them. Some reviewers were "oh, thi...

Blob - The timing just doesn't work out, unfortunately. The Halfie was gifted to my former trainer, and while she does ride him, she travels on the weekends to teach at other barns, so we're just not there at the same time(s). It's a small barn, and most of the other boarders don't trail ride. I'll ...

I had a quiet NYE, went to bed around 10:30. So I go down on New Year's Day to ride and BO informs me that since she was concerned about the horse's reactions to any midnight noise, she was dressed and out throwing them some hay around midnight (the barn has housing developments close on three sides...

Just finished "War of the Wolf" by Bernard Cornwell (historical novel, 10th Century in what-became-England). It's the most recent of a multi-novel series. I try to alternate fiction with non-fiction, so next up is "Searching for the Lost Tombs of Egypt" by Chris Naunton. I do, ho...

Shall we all be jealous? Scroll down on Carl Hester's Facebook page and he's giving a lesson to his 11 year old goddaughter on Valegro (an early b'day present for her). Looks like she's a pretty good little rider, too.

Mark has always been an edgy, hyper-alert horse. We succeeded at showing 2nd level, but not brilliantly. I believe our best score was a 65%. more often 60-62% (Oh noes, we wouldn't be able to do a freestyle!). A big part of the problem showing was that edginess. He'd be tense at most venues, but obe...
