Re: Boink equivalent ??
I wish I knew... Boinks are the only tights which really fit my longer legs and high rise. I'm in mourning that they're closing. I'll be watching for replies to this also. I keep on eye out on ebay for boinks that pop up out there. I don't know what size you are, but I have some Boink summer tights ...

Re: Rain Rot
Actually, you need to pick the scabs. It is awful and painful but all the nasties live in the scabs and will reinfect. What I would do is wet my horse and then slather on Hibiclens and scrub with a curry comb. I left the hibiclens on for at least 5 minutes and then rinsed. I repeated this for 5 day...

Re: Rain Rot
I would use Equiderma on the rain rot, and not pick scabs. You should not share brushes among them, and I'd wash all brushes when this is over and leave them in the sun to dry.

Oh yeah, I've logged many a mile on the trail in my terrains. They also make a good hiking boot.

Re: Cross training: Trail riding?
I love love love trail riding, more than dressage! Usually about half my rides are trail riding, I work on things on the trail too, leg yields, s-i, canter lengthening. We have some trails off our property, but only about 45min worth. However, 5 min via trailer I can get to hundreds of acres of rese...

What is your favorite non bulky winter riding glove, (preferably under $50). I need a pair and am wondering what's out there now. Thanks

Re: General photography related stuff thread
Rtr - I am a casual photographer, so I can't help you out at all. But, maybe you and others can help ME out. I am looking for a small, decent camera, preferable $250 or less, to take on hikes and when traveling. I have had two Nikon Coolpix in the past, but DH broke them (don't ask!). I mostly take...

Re: ITCHY DOG!
I've been through the food and environmental allergies hell and back with our cat over the last ten years. Finally had some allergy testing done by my new homeopathic vet which showed he was allergic to all grains and most protein sources, along with lots else. We had been battling this for years, s...

Re: Are any of the candidates, either party, electable?
I hope and think Bernie is electable. I'm frustrated with how little media attention he's getting. Other than a brief mention in local news about how large his rally crowds are, the big media seems to be ignoring him to over analyze trump and Clinton. Thank goodness the eye rolly emoticon is ...

Re: Hoof abcesses
My understanding, is that the purpose of soaking was go get the hoof immersed in Epsom salts to draw out the infection. Now that there are gel like gooey Epsom salt poultices, I find these work better. Another possible reason might be to increase the temp inside the hoof to increase the inflammatio...

Re: Tell us about YOU.
I'm 53, I've been a horse nut since I could walk, and have been riding since I was 10, started in 4-H. I rode western for 20 years, then switched to dressage at 30. I acquired a horse that needed retraining from the ground up, and thought dressage would be the place to do that. I worked for 20plus y...

Re: Hoof abcesses
I don't like soaking, I think it turns the hoof to mush. I thought that was the idea: to soften the hoof so that the abscess would have an easier time working its way out? My understanding, is that the purpose of soaking was go get the hoof immersed in Epsom salts to draw out the infection. Now tha...

Another one who teaches with shallow loops to the quarter line and back. Isn't this a movement in first level? It's been ten years since I have shown, but I seem to remember it in first.

I mostly lurk here lately, though I think I posted a year or so ago after our first recognized show, and this spring with some video of the flying changes progress with the western trainer we've been learning them from. (those lessons have been fantastic!) The changes are really coming along, (I ev...

Re: Creaky. What to do?
Should I do anything about it? I rode yesterday for probably the first time in 4 weeks and even though I had a good ride I'm sore and creaky today. I have a friend who is 10 years older than I am and she lives on Ibuprophen, but I don't think that's healthy. Is it? On the other hand, I'm rather pil...

Re: Hoof abcesses
My favorite is to poultice with an Epsom salt poultice like Kaeco, well wrapped and duct taped/diaper booted. I don't like soaking, I think it turns the hoof to mush. I have another poultice I like out in the barn, but can't remember the name, I'll update when I go out there. Not to freak you out bu...

Re: Instinct dog food
We fed our last lab instinct dry, the duck variety, and it was just fine. I think my parents fed their collie instinct at one time, but now he's on a low fat diet for pancreatitis. I just read ingredients and make sure it's full of real food, not chemicals or things I can't pronounce and that its gr...

Re: Turnout question
How happy is he with solitary turnout? I.e. Does he put his nose down and eat without fussing about not having buddy? I've had horses that were fine being alone without another horse in sight, and others need to have their hoofies held or they have meltdown. Four acres isn't very big for 6-7 horses....
