I think a very nice strategy. Sometimes venting to someone not as close to situation helps. I love the idea of the handpicked watercolors for cards!

The house cleaning is also a good idea for when she just can't *manage* and a clean house would be a lift.

Have you gone to a mattress store and tried a Tempurpedic? I had fairly severe scoliosis and problems getting comfortable sleeping. I've had my Tempurpedic about 5-6 years and still very happy with it.

My Zoji takes maybe 35-40 or so minutes for white rice (I"m not a fan of brown). Maybe that is forever?? I dunno, seems timely enough for me :)

I love all these desert birds that are perfectly fine using nasty looking spines for perches ;)

I have one of a curved bill thrasher perched on the top of a barrel cactus. He was using spines as perches and kept sliding down and having to re-adjust his grip (I'll have to see if I can find it...)
