Re: Improving position, biomechanics?

Flight then I would spend time raising BOTH knees up off the saddle and then letting them back down. First at just the halt and then at least at the walk, maybe trot if your horse is good. This will help loosen your hip joint, releasing it so you can drape your leg I feel your pain! Wide horse, wide...

I'll certainly chime in since I have been one of the posters on the other thread! 1. Contact and Connection: I agree mostly with KK that they are different, though can be inter-related. Contact to me means with the reins to the bit with straight line from the elbow to the corner of the mouth. The on...

Chisamba, no I was responding to kande's "leverage" of the front end and stringing the bow and direct leverage making it sound like the reason the horse comes up in the shoulders is from the contact or stringing the bow. IMO that is not the case or at least only a very small part of the tr...

IMO the head and neck raise when the HQs lower from collection. If you try to ride the neck first you end up compressing the horse's spine which drops the chest down. Only through proper gymnastic exercises can the horse build the strength to sit behind and elevate the front. Those exercises include...
