I think at least two turnouts of what ever weights you use would be handy....I always find my mare's shoulders are wet inside the turnout...neck and mane get wet and it runs under the blanket...so when it is wet everyday or cold..it would be nice to have a dry one for the next turnout...it's hard to...

I had my farrier cut off her chestnuts..those things were gynormous....but I had not noticed the ergots when he was here..and I've never had a horse with ergots that big, not even my old draft/appy cross....I never had to deal with them ...I guess there is always something to learn ...I did some rea...

Since that mane is untouched....it will remain long...I have braiding elastics in every pocket....I braid for every ride to keep it out of my way....I was going to clip her fetlocks but she has huge ergots,which would look weird sticking out naked..lol ! I wonder if this would keep the urine from sticking and irritating.It is a good product to shed moisture..I use it to prevent dew poisoning...aka scratches..sold at our local tack shop. It may allow you to just brush the legs off.

My niece heard the horse needed a new home,her owner had died. She convinced me to take a look. The mare was very sweet ..I tried her...I was so nervous...people hopped on and off her and she put up with it !
