Jingles to you both! Miss A is telling Cowboy to be good about his eye meds. And I’m telling you not to be heroic and please consider surgery. You are already on the DL, so a few weeks of recuperating won’t be that much harder.

The dusty horse

Miss A is dusty. I curry and bring up dirt. I body brush and dirt goes away, but she is still dusty. I then use a soft brush but I’d have to brush forever to get the dust off. What am I doing wrong? It’s far too cold for a bath.

Walk to canter

I am not a novice rider. Miss A. was a schoolie for years and tolerated absolute beginners. So why can I not get a walk to canter transition? W to C is much easier for me and her. My instructor can get the transition with no problem, although Miss A will pin her ears when asked but immediately prick...

I found out she suffers from dementia and that she has asked others the same question. Her daughter is a working student and doesn’t drive yet, so mom drives her. They live about 40 miles from the barn so mom stays while daughter does her thing. Now I feel bad.

I’ve been asked for strange things but….

Last night at the barn a big storm blew through. The power went out, a tree was toppled by the roots and was blocking the driveway. And there aren’t things much louder than sheets of rain on a metal roof. Everyone who wasn’t riding went into the club room to wait out the storm. The mother of one stu...
