Re: June 29, the pre-purchase

I have bought a few horses that I leased first, did not PPE. Have only done so for horses I as meeting for the first time. Never bad to have a vet check though, even as a formality. Congrats & enjoy your trip!

I would also move her along. She won't be suitable for DD, and iirc you have lots of lovely mounts of your own. She is a really cute mare, I'm sure she'll make someone very happy. :)

Re: On the forehand piaffe

This style of piaffe is often seen in horses who have it taught and/or reinforced from the ground. The hitch on the left indicates it is probably done with the handler on the left side, likely at the shoulder tapping the horse on the croup. Zonik is a dramatic mover, and we've seen in the past that ...

I would guess that horses on grass, who move around slowly as they graze, are more likely to switch shoulders as compared to those who are fed in piles of hay and basically stay parked.

I have heard that as long as the pee looks good and comes out in a nice stream then it's just a preference thing. But wouldn't hurt to have it checked out.

I am not a trimming expert, and to be honest I've had more trouble with farriers who trim too aggressively and prefer those who do a little less. But the most important thing to me is how they move, how they walk on rough footing etc..

Not at all, I use a 3" metal ring commonly used for dream catchers. Then I use either 24 or 26 gauge wire, cut into about 8 inch lengths. I bend them in 1/2 and then twist them around the bottom to make the roots (about 2-3 twists per strand). Then I try to spread the roots out a bit, and twist...
