What about using something drying on that weeping area (don't want to call it a wound?).... something like a zinc oxide paste (equiderma) or a clay product like Coat Defense?

THis is what I use. I was told that smooth rowels are less irritating than a POW or other non-rowel spur; those pull at the skin whereas a rowel will roll over it. yes I agree. Additionally, in my experience none of my curb reins have had buckles, always sewn together... only the snaffle rein has a buckle.....

I've found that even the best quality leather girths tend to rub more than synthetic girths. All the horses I know that are sensitive in the girth area have done best in synthetic girths. I use a Fairfax and there is a ton of room between the elbow and the girth. I also use the sheepskin covers, so they're extra comfy. . I have a Fairfax..... went to the TSF stretch tec because I thought the F was too stiff /hard, right where he gets sore. But, I haven't tried it again for a while.....

Altho not as long as a classic cavaletti, landscape poles make good ground poles and would make good cavaletti IMO. I have seen cavaletti that ware just a square of plywood (use marine grade) with an off-center hole for the pole; the square sits sort of angled on the pole and it supports itself.

Warm up just like you do at home. Then ask him to come on your aids however works best for you. For me, lots of walking loosening up with SI,HI, Renvers etc. Canter/walk/canter if it is in your vocabulary. Check the "buttons". Know the test and have a reader. Be sure to eat and be hydrated...

I have made crockpot lasagna many times. No recipe - I just used traditional ingredients and the newer "oven ready" noodles. No extra sauce or anything. It is easy and wonderful. I am sure yours will be as well!!

When my reins are just SO grungy.... I soak them in water for a while to soften up the gunk. Then use a nylon net type scrubby and saddle soap. Dry and DEEP condition.

I have also recently been on the search for a lighter weight pad. All the pads at the local tack shop seem so...puffy. I finally got a LeMieux that seemed OK (but I have nto tried it yet), and a lighter weight PRI. Have you tried the Weatherbeeter?

IMO it's important to remember that the extended walk comes out of collection - it's not a free walk (or even a free walk on contact). It has energy and marches - and the haunches are not out behind...... and I have also been counseled to collect a bit more before the extended paces to not only buil...
