Re: The Heat is ON: July/August Goals and Progress
Very interesting, Exvet. I’m having to change a lot of the way I’ve always ridden, but I’ve never trained a horse to the FEI level, let alone ridden at that level. You’ve trained several to FEI and quite successfully. So I can't even imagine how you are feeling about changing your canter strike off ...

Beautiful, Blob! I really enjoyed looking at those pictures. I so like it when a horse and rider “fit” each other so well, as you and RP do. Athletic and elegant at the same time. Thanks for posting. Heddy, another Texan tip: I use a battery operated fan and it works amazingly well. I bungee it to divider and it blows over the horse’s back. Even with the drop down windows all open, if I dont have the fan, the horse gets very sweaty, even on the toll road at 70 mph. With the fan, she is always dr...

So preparing for riding Rocky in the morning, Im thinking about “the buttons”. Christine says get them balanced and they’ll do what ever you ask (within reason, I guess). Good notes on the clinic, Blob. Sorry the first day was frustrating, and also that the whole thing was more of a demo ride/symposium. Chisamba, my trainer is 56 and recently started using a dismounting block. It is tall for so it works with tall or short horses. It has steps on either side to walk down after dismounting. I still like some of the oldies, like Tom Dorrance’s “True Unity”. Not everyone likes it but it works for me. Also Podhajsky’s “My Horses, My Teachers”. Both books are genuine horsemanship books and get to the heart of the horse-human relationship, in my opinion.
