My saddler uses the two fingers rule - there should be about two finger's width between the top of your boot and the bottom of the flap.
Yours looks fine to me.

Re: Calming supplement?
Good for you! Stand your ground - I know there are vets out there who aren't really horse people who may be a little hesitant to prescribe drugs that are not USAE legal. I mean, I know they have the clinical education, but I know more than one horse vet who has pretty limited riding/horse experience...

I would use Reserpine, rather than an herbal calmer. Your vet can give her a shot, or you can do pills. For a situation like this you need the big guns.

Alright, some of us are not exactly foodies.
Tonight I had a peanut butter and raw banana sandwich on multigrain bread, alongside a dark chocolate Atkins protein shake.
I might round up some Skittles and Diet Coke later to wash it all down.
Don't cry, y'all!

The Ford 6.0 diesels are awful. If you see a used Ford that seems way cheaper than normal, it's probably a 6.0. The 6.4 or 7.3 diesels are far better.

We pulled the front shoes on my AQHA gelding about three weeks ago. He was already barefoot behind. My guy is a typical AQHA hunter type, with lots of TB blood. It does get cold here, down into the 20's but it rarely stays that cold for more than a couple of hours. My horses live in mare motels, so basically an open air barn. Neither one of them grow much hair. If I body clipped, I would blanket lightly. Otherwise, they get to go nekkid. It doesn't snow her...

I have had a boarder. It was my best friend, someone who I have known for 20+ years. It started out OK, but rapidly declined. I was charging a rate that was far under average for my area. I am sad to report that bomb proof horses are a myth. Even the best trained, most reliable horse can become frightened by something. You as the rider need to be able to deal with what the horse does. I think that you have to feed your horses the best hay you can give them - whatever type of hay the horse needs. If it means lower calories or whatever, then that is the best hay for that horse. One thing I refuse to do is feed poor quality hay to any horse. (That's what cows are for.) If me being c...
