Re: Get out your winter boots - November/December Goals and Progress
So, i have started working on counter canter with Kimba. She will counter canter in small loops, but if i ask her to pick up the counter canter, she just will not, so the obvious tell is that she is cantering based on where she is in the arena, rather than what shape i have her and which legs i am u...

Exvet have to agree. I feel grateful to still have horses and be riding still. I have always had one "good" horse and a couple of projects. Considering that all the horses I currently own were acquired in the 500 to 800 aka kill buyer price range, I feel blessed that they have taught me mu...

I had a horse that became very unreliable because she would lift her head in response to a start, and that would trigger neck pain, which would trigger bolting. She was retired. it would happen in pasture too. I hope the neck pain becomes stable.

My horses go out rain or shine, blizzard or cold. Horses are creatures of outdoor, not indoor. Fortunately most of my owners know that rolling in the mud and such are signs of happy horses. Re: The big picture: How has your training or your horse evolved?
Well I have had metamorphic changes in training. I was quite a stickler for certain premises that I have realized are simply not always true. 1) every horse can go well in an egg butt snaffle and if it doesn't, training is at fault. Metamorphed into, some horses just do not like a snaffle and there ...

Gwen, I used to hunter pace with a lay who had an Icelandic. He was super fun out on trails. Some horses do not enjoy trails and never will. I do not always have the same perspective as others, but one thing i do know is that the life of a wild herd animal is not without stresses. We had several antelope herds on the farm in zambia. Unfortunately once you start renting there are laws in place. Your farm your rules does not apply once you choose to rent.
Please be sure your rules are legal.
They don't sound legal to me but I don't know your state, city, county or what federal laws apply.
