Yes khall - it's like he's sickle hocked and post legged/low behind at the same time, depending on the pic? Photos can be very deceiving of course, but I do see a very "loose moving" horse. It is so easy to obsess over conformation, and a horse looks utterly different in person many times....

Caveat: I am not a vet, and many conformational issues are utterly eclipsed by a horse's willingness and desire to work. However, I would say he looks pretty immature, so the downhill part may go away. In videos, he doesn't move downhill, and this may never be an issue. Things I noticed: his pastern...

Also the cheapest non drowsy antihistamine if your horse is very itchy right now is cetirizine. I posted the dose above. Really, try Repel or Cutter brand lemon eucalyptus repellent. It’s $5 on Amazon. Not lemon, lemongrass, citronella or eucalyptus. Lemon eucalyptus. It works amazingly for culicoides and mosquitos. My guy is out without a fly sheet on right now!!!

What’s your definition? I use two vets, and their lameness tests are very different.

The other wants a 10m trot on asphalt... very few horses pass that...

Barnmate came storming in from pasture ranting that someone stole the blanket off her horses back. (Yeah, a little wacky). It was pointed out to her that the blanket was found sitting by the fence, chest snaps snapped to the wire. Horse unscathed.

Xan, with rehab it totally makes sense that you have to deliberately get in the minutes! It just struck me as kind of a lot, but you are doing it in small chunks. I would say that when I do trot or canter sets, we are in a working gait. I'm posting or in a light seat. It's not "collected"...

Re: Reactivity / Hot off the Leg Challenge Supporters
Yeah I'd agree with ALL that. I got this rehab program from my vet tho, who is out next week for a check up so I'll ask her - she was very much into building up the walk, trot and canter gradually so there is an element of "just getting the minutes in" in some gaits, but I tend to reserve ...

Yeah I've been pondering that. I would say 1/2 of the canter is just lolloping around getting the minutes in, and usually 30-60 seconds max at a time. The rest is walk/canter transitions, trot/canter transitions, and big/small - aka run/shuffle  Last year I was positively carrying him at canter...

I'll add that the QH world is in a state of shambles with PSSM right now - people continue to breed positive and carrier horses freely. WB breeders need to step in and start testing their stock for this and other genetic diseases, and buyers need to start asking if their stock is tested. If a breede...
