Re: Thanksgiving plans?
I will make a Sous Vide dinner for my parents and my stepbrother. http://blog.sousvidesupreme.com/2012/11/cranberry-and-walnut-stuffed-turkey-breast-dinner/ I wanted to take them out, but my stepdad said no. Wacky is due to deliver the first grandchild (for me!) a week from tomorrow, too. And then I...

Thank you so much, everyone!!!! Many great suggestions! She is at home, with my 99 year old mentally intact stepfather, and full time assistance. About five years ago she fell and broke her hip, and she has not kept up with the effort of walking with a walker even though we have almost daily visits ...

Re: Amusements appropriate for dementia?
Yes, you are correct. But she will often ask if she can help me when I am working or making a meal, so I think she would feel better doing something. And a wonderful book I just read, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JCW0BCY?keywords=being%20mortal&qid=1447276058&ref_=sr_1_1&s=books&a...

Re: "Not-happening-any-time-soon-VHS" anyone?!
Yes, love my Lusitanos! Bought the first from my friend who bought him at the Lusitano auction in Wellington, that Interagro used to run. She fell in love with Xenocrates, but finally faced the fact that she was too tall for him. Her loss, my big (but expensive) gain! Then I decided I needed a young...

Amusements appropriate for dementia?
Trying to find something that my mother, with moderate to severe dementia, might be able to do. Anyone know any website to buy crafts for 2-4 year old children - am thinking of gluing tiles to a tray to make a hot plate - that kind of stuff. Suggestions would be tremendously appreciated. She sits an...

Re: How do YOU define Intellectual Property?
Well, in theory, let's see if I understand the law. The default regarding posting on the internet, in the law, is that unless the terms of use include a release, the intellectual property remains with the poster. Moving it to another place, an action which the original site terms did not include, wh...

Thank you Digi for another very well worded explanation of the issues. Reminds me of when I posted a link to an exercise on KM's web page and got blasted here for recommending an exercise that someone would have to pay for.

Re: Family get togethers, 2 hours late? A whine...
Interesting. I became aware when I was in college and went home, that the visit could be great until I had to leave, and then there would be a fight. I think it was easier to leave after a fight - I don't remember if my mother instigated fights then. I stopped "needing" a fight to transiti...

Re: Best winter riding glove
The BOT gloves are not thick enough to work as real winter gloves. I have not found that the liners add measurably to the warmth of gloves. That said I have found that the blanket and the scarf DO add increased warmth. Curious!

Re: Creaky. What to do?
The prescription dose of naproxen is 2 tabs TID. Three once a day (if you are not sensitive to it) is probably OK - I say that because I used to do it. Now I don't because I am older. I would not take three if you are 60 or over, or have any kidney problems, or are using topical NSAIDs at the same t...
