I’ve heard of people wrapping the bit in a fruit roll to help horses accept the bit. Maybe he would suck bit and not stick tongue out? It should create more saliva…. Definitely agree not a habit you want starting.

BTW. I suspect the original owner couldn’t keep him sound due to poor farrier work. They had him on the road showing and his feet were NOT in good condition and not trimmed for navicular when I got him.

You have all my sympathy. I know exactly how it is. I lost my companion of 15 years on the same day you did. I can’t stop tearing up when I think of it. I am lucky in that her issue was age and orthopedic issues not a horrible disease. Hang in there.

By the way for those who are not familiar...Bedlington Terriers are built like sight hounds, roached back and similar galloping running style. Only they have hair similar to a poodle (softer and no shed, grooming required), about 20 lbs. they look like lambs, but have terrier temperament.
