Maybe go to a candy store that sells bulk candy and get tiny little samples of many different sour candies that you can put in bags tied with a ribbon? I'm so sorry for your losses, fergusnc. It is hard enough losing loved pets, but I'm familiar with the loss of a extra-beloved dog with no warning, and my heart aches for you. :( They were all obviously loved. I have a Neato (dunno which model) and it is WONDERFUL. It really does a great job, and I use it daily.
It handles my mostly hard floor with some throw rugs without trouble. You might have to fix the fringe but its worth it.

I only have 2. They have run-in sheds (one shed, made into 2 stalls with a divider wall) and good size runs. The runs open into a group paddock, that opens into the pasture. So I can move them around wherever I need without having to halter them. Typically they live in the runs, with only periodic p...

Yikes! Glad everything is OK, but I bet that was really scary. A friend once told me about witnessing a horse wearing a bridle with easy change clips...horse swung its head and clipped itself to the fence. It was, to say the least, a terrible wreck. I had one of those headstalls and I never used it ...

As mentioned, the heroine becomes a working student for a dressage trainer. The usual compliment of crazy characters and dastardly doings, all intertwined with the extraordinary mundaneness of life at a horse barn. Lots of good scenes with the horses, shows, and dressage. It is light fiction, writte...

I find that acceptable. Not so much in a one-time clinic type session. That would really annoy me. Clinics are expensive! That's why I am so disappointed. The ride was shortened by 15 minutes! That is 1/3 of the ride. The clinic cost was 160$. I do give lessons from time to time and can't imagine s...

I would want an explanation for it. In my regular lessons, sometimes we finish 10min or so before "time" but it is always when we have reached a finish point. There are also times we run over for the same reason. I find that acceptable. Not so much in a one-time clinic type session. That w...

Glad the surgery went well. I know several PSSM horses, and it's very manageable for them -- they lead very successful and happy lives. Chisamba is correct. Think of gray as an overlay. So mentally remove the gray and use the base color to calculate percentage of color. In your case, bay. Then no matter what the base color result is, you then add a 50/50 chance of getting gray. If you bred her to a cream dilute -- like, say, a creme...

Can I clarify what Kande said? She is right, you can use whatever you want as a clicker, incl 'good boy', but shorter is better. But you have to use it precisely. So anytime you say "good" or "yes", that specifically means a click (followed by a treat). So you cant just randomly ...

My understanding is that a dog like yours is not actually an alpha dog. A true alpha dog is the one who, with a mere glance or tiny gesture, can make other dogs (and usually people too!) behave the way they want them to. If you've ever met one of these dogs, when they walk into a room everyone else ...
