When spending the nights up in the mountain we had "Tartine" with us. A lovely mule. She carried the tents and supplies while our horses had to carry our personal stuff (sleeping bag, clothes) plus their own food.

Even though we were happy whenever we encountered indoor plumbing and a hot shower, the highlight of the trip were the nights spend up in the mountains in our little tents.

But we did not always ride. We had to walk quite a bit too. Downhill only, thankfully.
I usually let Levatin find his way by himself a made sure *I* was getting down safely myself...

After feeding the horses in the mornings and heaving breakfast ourselfs, we would tack up and ride until lunch time, take a lunch break in some beautiful spot and then ride again for another few hours in the after noon. It probably makes sense to specify, that I was talking strictly about ring work. Cantering in a field or even better, on a nice track is quite a different story. I was taught, that it basically has the same function as a correctly used drop noseband. It should keep a horse from laterally shifting the lover jaw to avoid the bit/aids.

One of the rescue horses is Hanoverian, but she has no brand. Sometimes a brand can be practically invisible. That's Muenster, the city I live in! It's a team from the "Bauern Olympiade", now called the "K&K Cup". It takes place every year in Muenster. The big riding clubs from the area pick teams and compete against each other. It's always big fun and almost imossible to get tickets...
